Air in Hanoi
I grew up in Hanoi thinking the haze in the air was normal. I rode my motorbike through traffic every day, breathing in exhaust without a second thought. Over time, my chest started to feel tight, and I would cough for no reason. One night, I woke up gasping for air. When the doctor told me I had asthma, it finally made sense. Now I check the air quality before leaving home and carry an inhaler with me, loving my city while learning to protect my breath within it.

Polluted streets
One of the biggest cause of street pollution is the smoke from cars and trucks. Littering and the disposal of waste on roads is increasing this problem. Since the air quality is poor, we breathe in harmful substances that can worsen respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, and allergies expecially for children and aged people.

Struggle with allergies
I have a hard time when I ride my bike to school. Sometimes there’s a lot of smoke in the air, and it makes my allergies really bad. My nose gets stuffy, and I start coughing. I wish the air was cleaner so I could ride my bike without feeling sick. It would be really nice if we could do something to make the air better so everyone can breathe easier!

Street waste
In my neighborhood I see piles of garbage and waste on the streets every day. This waste is having a direct impact on our air quality and our health. The plastic bags, food wrappers, and other trash are left on the streets get blown around by the wind affecting air quality. When people burn the waste to get rid of it release harmful chemicals into the air. Breathing in this smoke can cause serious health problems, especially for children, the elderly, and those with breathin

Wildfires and air quality
In California we are have wildfires. They produce smoke and particles that travel long distances, impacting air quality in surrounding areas. Even if we live far away, this can make the air really bad for us to breathe. It's scary to think about how much it hurts the environment and our health.
